Internet Economy is coming back - nachdem die Medienindustrie die erste geplatzte Blase schneller als erwartet verdaut hat, bekommt der Begriff Start-Up erneut einen verlockenden Klang. Enki vom Wiener Metalab holt ein amerikanisches Early-Stage Förderkonzept nach Europa, das auf die Bedürfnisse von Start-Ups zugeschnitten ist.

Größere Aufmerksamkeit ist YEurope nach einem Bericht in techcrunch sicher:

Y Combinator's funding methodology of investing a small amount of money across a wide array of young entrepreneurs has already inspired other programs, such as TechStars out of Colorado. [...] YEurope (not affiliated with Y Combinator) launched its own similar program for European internet and communication technology startups. [...] The program not only copied the "Y" and front page slide show (ironically a product of a Y Combinator startup), but also the entire application.

Gerade im Frühstadium der Projektentwicklung ist's schwierig, den eigenen Lebensaufwand zu finanzieren: hier steigt YEurope ein und vergibt wie sein Pendant dreimonatige Förderungen für Einzelpersonen oder Kleingruppen für spätere Firmenbeteiligung von 2 bis 10 Prozent.

Einen Kommentar zu den Plagiatsvorwürfen hat Paul auf Startup News veröffentlicht:

my startup probably is the most risk-averse of all we have in the lab right now. i was urgently aiming for success and start cash for yeurope. half a week ago, because we started lobbying as IG Startup (interest group of startup founders), an opportunity has arisen to do YEurope right now, by taking an angel on board. we certainly have worse cards than YC in the US, but i'm confident we can do this, or i wouldn't try.
