Internet Economy is com­ing back — nach­dem die Medienindustrie die erste geplatzte Blase schnel­ler als erwar­tet ver­daut hat, bekommt der Begriff Start-Up erneut einen ver­lo­cken­den Klang. Enki vom Wiener Metalab holt ein ame­ri­ka­ni­sches Early-Stage Förderkonzept nach Europa, das auf die Bedürfnisse von Start-Ups zuge­schnit­ten ist.

Größere Aufmerksamkeit ist YEurope nach einem Bericht in tech­crunch sicher:

Y Combinator’s fun­ding metho­do­logy of inves­ting a small amount of money across a wide array of young entre­pre­neurs has alre­ady inspi­red other pro­grams, such as TechStars out of Colorado. […] YEurope (not affi­lia­ted with Y Combinator) laun­ched its own simi­lar pro­gram for European inter­net and com­mu­ni­ca­tion tech­no­logy star­tups. […] The pro­gram not only copied the “Y” and front page slide show (iro­ni­cally a pro­duct of a Y Combinator star­tup), but also the ent­ire application.

Gerade im Frühstadium der Projektentwicklung ist’s schwie­rig, den eige­nen Lebensaufwand zu finan­zie­ren: hier steigt YEurope ein und ver­gibt wie sein Pendant drei­mo­na­tige Förderungen für Einzelpersonen oder Kleingruppen für spä­tere Firmenbeteiligung von 2 bis 10 Prozent.

Einen Kommentar zu den Plagiatsvorwürfen hat Paul auf Startup News veröffentlicht:

my star­tup pro­bably is the most risk-averse of all we have in the lab right now. i was urgently aiming for suc­cess and start cash for yeu­rope. half a week ago, because we star­ted lob­by­ing as IG Startup (inte­rest group of star­tup foun­ders), an oppor­tu­nity has ari­sen to do YEurope right now, by taking an angel on board. we cer­tainly have worse cards than YC in the US, but i’m con­fi­dent we can do this, or i wouldn’t try.
