WordPress wird dank neuer Plugins immer mäch­ti­ger — ganz frisch aus der Byteschmiede kommt Staypress von clearskys.net [via ma.tt]:

Als die Interaktivität zurückkehrte

Wie war das schnell noch­mal, damals? Seinerzeit? “Wir waren mal Stars, die Karriere is vor­bei, das war’s, ihr rockt die Charts und wir hän­gen in den Bars,” haben Torch und Linguist mal gerappt. Dabei wird’s doch jetzt erst rich­tig lus­tig, wie Douglas Adams 1999 in in Paraphrase von Stanley Kubrick in sei­nem Essay How to Stop Worrying and Learn to Love the Internet schrieb:

“During [the twen­ti­eth] cen­tury we have for the first time been domi­na­ted by non-interactive forms of enter­tain­ment: cinema, radio, recor­ded music and tele­vi­sion. Before they came along all enter­tain­ment was inter­ac­tive: theatre, music, sport-the per­for­mers and audi­ence were there toge­ther, and even a respect­fully silent audi­ence exer­ted a power­ful shaping pre­sence on the unfol­ding of wha­te­ver drama they were there for. We didn’t need a spe­cial word for inter­ac­tivity in the same way that we don’t (yet) need a spe­cial word for people with only one head.

I expect that history will show “nor­mal” main­stream twen­ti­eth cen­tury media to be the aber­ra­tion in all this. ‘Please, miss, you mean they could only just sit there and watch? They couldn’t do anything? Didn’t ever­y­body feel ter­ri­bly iso­la­ted or alie­na­ted or ignored?’

Und genau die­sen para­dig­ma­ti­schen Einleitungssatz hat Joshua Porter für sein neues Buch Designing for the social web als Einleitungszitat gewählt. Er schreibt dazu:

As any­body who has ever read anything knows, the most import­ant part of a book are the quo­tes sprin­kled throug­hout it. Yes, if you are able to pick the per­fect quo­tes to start your chap­ters with, then you’ve done the majo­rity of hard work in writing.

Peter Purgathofer über Spam

Professor Peter Purgathofer vom Institut für Gestaltungs– und Wirkungsforschung der TU Wien, hielt kürz­lich auf einer vom Verein acces­si­ble media orga­ni­sier­ten Veranstaltung einen Vortrag zum Thema Captchas und Accessibility — Pflichtlektüre für jeden, der fun­diert gegen die unsin­ni­gen Anti-Spam Rätsel argu­men­tie­ren möchte:

CAPTCHAs sind als nach­hal­tige und men­schen­freund­li­che Lösung des Problems von Bot-Angriffen theo­re­tisch wie prak­tisch unge­eig­net. Als nach­hal­tige Lösung und als men­schen­freund­li­che Lösung ver­sa­gen sie in bei­den Fällen.

Warum das so ist, ver­rät der Volltext des Vortrags — unbe­dingt lesen: nicht nur instruk­tiv, son­dern oben­drein noch unterhaltsam.

Das war’s dann auch schon wie­der mit dem dies­mal um einen Tag ver­spä­te­ten Wochenrückblick — aber ges­tern auf Franz’ B-Day Grillparty war’s trotz sint­flut­ar­ti­ger Regenfälle extrem gemüt­lich… auch Blogger müs­sen Prioritäten set­zen
